A rare and architecturally inspired Cairoware incense burner, Egypt, late 19th to early 20th century, cast in brass with inlaid and incised silver and copper ornamentation. The domed lid, pierced with crescent and star-shaped apertures, mimics the silhouette of an Ottoman-style mosque and is topped with an Islamic crescent finial. The cylindrical base rests on three delicately curved tripod legs and is encircled by intricate calligraphic panels in naskh script. The entire form serves as both a devotional object and a decorative sculpture—allowing fragrant smoke to rise like a prayer, evoking the multisensory experience of Islamic interiors.
