A large Ottoman ewer, likely 19th century, hand-forged in copper with a long tapering neck, curved handle, and elongated spout. The bulbous body, gently rounded and balanced atop a flat base, is typical of Anatolian and Levantine ewers used in domestic, hammam, and ceremonial settings. The patina—marked by age, oxidation, and gentle abrasions—evokes centuries of use and lends it a rich textural depth. These ewers (ibrik in Turkish) were essential in Ottoman daily ritual, particularly in the pouring of water for ablutions or in formal dining service. The domed lid and hinged finial, though slightly worn, speak to its original function as both utilitarian object and status symbol within the Ottoman household.
