A handsome Ottoman copper ewer, 19th century, with tall flared spout, domed lid, and elegantly curved handle. The bulbous body is chased with a large central medallion filled with arabesque motifs, likely floral or vegetal in origin, surrounded by ringed geometric borders. A subtle patina of age and use darkens the crevices, enhancing the repoussé detailing. Functional as both a water pourer and a symbol of hospitality, ewers such as this were often part of the domestic or religious rituals of the Ottoman household. This particular example, with its restrained elegance and architectural silhouette, reflects the continuity of Islamic form language over centuries—balanced, purposeful, and profoundly graceful.
