The central image depicts the craggy facial profile in rich relief, set against a mountainous backdrop — a romanticized nod to American natural landmarks, widely celebrated in 19th- and 20th-century decorative arts.

The border is adorned with stylized foliate motifs typical of the period, framing the scene in classic Wedgwood symmetry.
