A fine example of Wedgwood’s historic Americana series, this octagonal plate features a detailed cobalt blue transfer scene of the famed “Old Man of the Mountain,” the iconic rock formation that once loomed over Franconia Notch in New Hampshire's White Mountains. The central image depicts the craggy facial profile in rich relief, set against a mountainous backdrop — a romanticized nod to American natural landmarks, widely celebrated in 19th- and 20th-century decorative arts.
The border is adorned with stylized foliate motifs typical of the period, framing the scene in classic Wedgwood symmetry. Produced in England for the American market, this plate would have been part of a souvenir series or commemorative edition — highly collectible today, especially after the collapse of the Old Man formation in 2003.
Condition: Light surface wear consistent with age, glaze intact.
